Material passage diagram of Hopper Feeder machine

Objective of HOPPER FEEDER machine:

  1. The main principle object of the Hopper Feeder is to supply uniform feeding of cotton on lattice across the complete width of the machine.
  2. To extract iron particles from the cotton.
  3. Fan is provided within the top of the machine and sucks the dusty air which is settled down in the cellar.
  4. In the machine cotton is blended in the main bin and  is combed by the spikes of the inclined lattice.

Because of these specialities, the Hopper Feeder is repeated in the Blow room line.

Main Parts & their functions:

  1. Creeper lattice.
  2. Feed lattice.
  3. Inclined lattice.
  4. Swing door.
  5. Evener roller.
  6. Stripping roller.
  7. Beater.
  8. Grid
  9. Segment roller.

Their functions:

  1. Creeper lattice: The cotton coming from the previous machine is deposited on a creeper latticed Reserve bin.The task of creeper lattice is to deliver the cotton on feed Lattice to the main bin.
  2. Feed lattice: The task of feed lattice is to take cotton forward close to the inclined lattice.
  3. Inclined lattice: Hard pressed layers of cotton are well combed by the spikes of inclined lattice.Due to the spikes on the inclined lattice and direction of movement, lumps of cotton can easily be carried upwards by the inclined lattice.
  4. Swing door: Swing door is used to maintain the constant level of cotton on feed lattice.
  5. Evener roller: It gives even formation of cotton.
  6. Stripping roller: Stripping roller strip the cotton from inclined lattice and projects it over a grid bar system.
  7. Beater: It is used for beating.
  8. Grid: The impurities of cotton fibers are separated from the clean fiber back through these bars.
  9. Segment roller: It is used as a feed limitation indicator as it is placed between two swing doors.

Working Principle of Hopper Feeder Machine:

The cotton coming from the previous machine is deposited on a creeper latticed Reserve bin. Creeper lattice will bring the cotton on feed Lattice to the main bin.

Feed lattice will take cotton forward close to the inclined lattice.

Swing door is used to maintain the constant level of cotton on feed lattice. Due to the spikes on the inclined lattice and direction of movement, lumps of cotton will be carried upwards by the inclined lattice. Hard pressed layers of cotton are well combed by the spikes of inclined lattice.

Revolving spikes of the evener roller or lattice beats and open the cotton.

Due to the close space between evener lattice and inclined lattice and rotation of evener roller in the opposite direction, unopened excess lumps of cottons are thrown back into the mixing bin.

Stripping roller strips the cotton from inclined lattice and projects it over a grid bar system where sand, heavy trash are passed through the spacing of the grid.

From the stripping roller the cotton is deposited, layer by layer in. the reserve box and is taken into next machine by lattice in the form of uniform feeding across the full width of the scutcher.
